Keir Prince on his Pompey awayday to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 28th November, 2015.

So as I sit waiting in the mud patch/car park at Wycombe I don’t think there is as good a time as now to reflect on today’s outing.

The day started at 8am with a reasonably healthy breakfast of crumpets.

Said goodbye to the kids and met up with my good mate Richard Langley (Langers) to make our way to the Gosport ferry. Once over into the beautiful city of Portsmouth we were met by our chauffeur for the day Mr Dave Underwood. My other good friend, his son, Matt who is also the Pompey Ladies under 9’s manager, was ready with the beers.

An uneventful but alcohol fuelled hour and 45 later we arrive at the ground.

Now after beers we all needed the little boys room. As we discovered there was none available for away fans. One helpful programme seller asked a steward if we would use the loo’s in the stadium. Luckily for us they said yes. Outstanding.

After a quick bottle in the marquee we made our way out of the industrial estate that Adams Park is hidden within and onto the nearest boozer. The Hour Glass was full of Blues’ fans all enjoying a lovely cold pint. Bournemouth fans greeted us behind the bar and were quite apparent with their dislike of them down the M27.

The billboard outside made that pretty clear. We stayed here chatting to fellow Pompey fans and getting a little tipsy.

Time came for us to go to the ground and witness the rather odd game before us.

We started the game brightly but as per the norm with Pompey, sloppy goals let cost us dearly! Not entirely sure what was going on but we found the net through Lavery exactly when we needed too. Fair play to McNulty, could have easily tried to score but squared it beautifully for his strike partner to tap home. The 2000 Pompey fans went wild! Smashed my shins on the chair in front but worth it!

Second half was better from us more pressing and more attempts on target. Adam Webster stooping to head home a Davies corner caused scenes in the away end. Limbs everywhere!

With about 10 minutes to go a seriously dodgy decision from the referee was met with anger from “the Fratton end”. As something Chris Kamara would say “unbelievable Jeff!!” Somehow a penalty was not awarded to Pompey. Burgess basically being rugby tackled to the ground by a Wycombe player.

You can watch @ArchiehesseA’s short video clip ‘Not a penalty?’ here: https://t.co/vM3f6rz4KK

The same player the ref has spoken to about keeping his hands to himself not 30 seconds earlier! Shocking. The referee less than a minute later gave Pompey a free kick on the edge of the box. After, from my opinion, was a goal scoring opportunity. Yellow card only. The free kick was comfortable for Ingram to save.

Full time came 2-2 and the travelling supporters, for the most part, clapped and cheered the Blue Army. I am still sat in the car park 50 minutes waiting to get out, next time we’ll park away from the ground!

Throughly enjoyable day out for Langers 25th birthday and when we get out of here it will be more beers and a lovely ruby murray!
