Pompey Academy can go seven unbeaten on Saturday when they host Dagenham & Redbridge in Round 2 of the EFL Youth Cup at Furze Lane. 11am KO and entrance is free.

Last Saturday the young Blues’ continued their fine form with a 3-1 win over Exeter City to replace the Grecians at the top of the EFL Youth Alliance SW table with 11 points from 5 played.

Academy coach Mikey Harris told the club website:

“I don’t look at the league table too much, but you could see why Exeter were at the top.

They have technical players, pass the ball around well and played their part in a very entertaining contest.

We went in front through another set-piece and I was pleased for Obi (Saidy) because he’s been working on getting on the end of crosses in training.

Harvey was in the right place to double the lead and, with Exeter playing a high line, he was then able to lob in the third following a nice pass over the defence from Theo.”

Exeter scored a late consolation but it was the Blues’ who finished up with all 3 points.
