Pompey Academy got back to winning ways against Alan McLoughlin’s Swindon Town yesterday at Furze Lane to end a run of four straight defeats.

Theo Widdrington, Jez Bedford and Kyle McDowell were all sidelined through injury, whilst leading scorer Harvey Bradbury was ruled out due to suspension.

Despite the missing players, the young Blues’ demonstrated fight and determination to come from behind to win 2-1 with goals from Dan Smith following Ousman Saidy’s cross with just 12 minutes to go, before Matt Mayes stunning 30-yard last-minute strike sealed all three points.
